Not a Motorbike Mechanic
United Kingdom
Приєднався 19 лис 2007
My channel is mostly motorbike related, videos generally show me attempting home motorcycle mechanics.
Normally on my own bike, occasionally I work on friends bikes.
I have no mechanical training, videos are designed to show what the home mechanic can do, with basic tools.
Before starting a job I'm unsure of, I always do my research..... I advise you to do the same.

thanks for giving thieves a head start ... cheers !
Your welcome 😄
on normal speed triple, it's brembo P4-34x34 👍✌️ (if iy can help finding pads at a decent price 😆)
Welcome back. I have just used your rear wheel bearing video for my 2019 ST RS . With a little swearing, all went well. Subbed.
A little swearing is ok, or a beer 🍺 helps 😄🏍 Thanks for subscribing 👍
im a new rider and i just found this, ive been scratching my head for the day figuring out how to adjust my chain, thank you :)
Your welcome. My friend has been riding for over 40 years, and I had to show him how to adjust a chain recently.
If you want a better fix, but that requires some attention. You can unscrew the mechanism underneath the fuel cap "The two Philips screws" Then you can undo the locking cylinder and remove the shims that don't match your current key. Or re-arrange them to make more match. They have to be flush with the surface when they key is inserted all the way. :)
I have done so on a number of occasions, for instance to make one key open both saddlebags and top case, or on a car that needed a new door lock that I wanted to operate with the ignition key, etc.
Очень полезное видео! Спасибо!
Your welcome, please like and subscribe 👍
I wanted to ask, where did you get the frame sliders for your zx10?
A guy off ebay, he makes them. This is his email. pdudhill@gmail.com
With the total absence of a Haynes Manual or similar , your very informative and practical videos are a godsend. I've been a Triumph owner since 1974 (T150) and various ones since then so have a fairly good idea of how to keep my Speed Triple on the road without resorting to the Dealer but my RS has some bits n bobs on it that I'm not too familiar with so thank you VERY much for shedding some light on things like ABS Gate bleeding..... Honestly, thank you very much.
I'm really pleased that my videos are helpful, thank you for the support 🏍👍
Great video as a moto mechanic new to single swing arm. My speed triple developed a play from 12 to 6 O'clock but not 9 to 3 you know what could it be? Thanks 😊
Have you stripped it down?
Mate that's super helpful. Ta.
Glad it helped🏍👍
Damn that was priceless information. Thank you so much.
Happy to help, please subscribe & share 👍🏍
@@notamotorbikemechanic just subscribed braddah.
I glad you're back on track without past negativity. Great man cave! When you build them you say "I've got plenty space now" then you fill them! 😂
Thank you for following, yes plenty of space until you put all the bikes in 😄🏍
You saved my day. On my Street Triple 1200 RS it seems to be installed as standard..., I didn't know what type of connector it was (it doesn't appear in the manual), just that it looks like a 12v socket. Thanks!
Glad I could help 🏍👍
Welcome back mate I like the cave son 👍🏼👍🏼
How you doing pal, how's the ⛳️
@@notamotorbikemechanic great mate camping in oxwich at moment home tomorrow Haven’t played much golf like a cant at the moment 😂
Great to see you back.. always enjoyed your content, and your Triumph Speed Triple video series I found invaluable rebuilding a written off Speed Triple R, which is now absolutely mint 👌 I look forward to future videos, and your man cave is awesome.. I'd love to sit next to my bikes, watching Moto GP, with a cold beer, so nice work there!! 😅 Ride safe. Stewart
Cheers Stuart, everyone need a mancave. I'm glad your speed triple is up and running 👍🏍
Nice to see your back missed your videos. Nice to see you've still got the ZX10 it's looking good still. The updated man cave looks great. Looking forward to more content from you.❤😊😊
Thank you, nice to be back. Next video Monday, and hopefully weekly afterwards 🏍👍
Your videos have been very helpful and informative. Welcome back and keep on with the good job!
Nice to be back, hopefully weekly videos 🏍👍🏍
I've been trying to get rid of my 'negative energy' for years, but she won't go!🤷♂
Good women are hard to find 🤣🏍
@@notamotorbikemechanic😁Bad ones are even harder! At least bikes don’t answer back.
Looks like a little bit of heaven to me! Good to see you back.
I love it, just the place to relax.... and maybe fix a bike or four 😄🏍
Pleased to see you back making videos. Your past videos have been a massive help and given me the confidence to carry out all of my own servicing myself too.
Nice to be back, another video coming soon. Great to hear your looking after your own maintenance 👍 🏍
Nice one bruv 👌
Cheers, thanks for watching 🏍👍
Thanks for the video, ive got exactly the same colour as yours. 👍🏼
Superb Video brother.. Greetings from Singapore.. New owner of Triumph Speed Triple 1050 SE (2010)
Glad you like the videos, hopefully some more to come soon 👍🏍
thx alot for the whole series actually, could not have done it without these videos. amazing stuff.
That's really good to know the video's help. Hopefully you subscribe, as more video's coming soon 👍
Thank you, glad to help 🏍👍
15.20!!! great tip.
Thank you for the help brother! It was a learning process and you definitely helped me
Really glad I could help, a sense of pride when you service your own bike 👍🏍
a quale percorrenza km dovrebbe esser fatto questo ingrassaggio?
Every 4 years or 40,000 km (24,000 miles) 👍
Hey mate, my up and down buttons don’t work at all. On and off work fine. Unfortunately the grips are stuck on 30%.. any ideas?
Very hard to say, don't think the design of these are the best. I think they are all going to break eventually, I've removed mine 🤷♂️
Is this hard to do?
Not at all, take time and follow the video 👍
@@notamotorbikemechanic Really appreciate the video and all the detail you've added. Thanks!
Just wanted to say, I should be buying a zx10 Sunday to restore, and I'm looking forward to it. It's the black and red scheme similar to the top gun GPz900r, so I'm very excited. I also have a spare Zx10 parts bike for anything I need, so here's to hoping everything goes according to plan! Road trip soon!
Thats awesome, hope you enjoy your project 🏍👍
Have a 1050RS I am 63 and some jobs take a bit longer these days but always learning fantastic work thank you
Thank you so much for the message, glad to help. 63 years young Vincent 👍
old vid but still relevant !! ty , from a cert bike mech 😂
just wanted to ask! have you ever heard of oxfords grips losing heat on one of the grips, and would it be a fuse fault! or just faulty pair, because mine are doing this! Awesome info video sir! 👍
I'd say its a faulty connection to one grip, the old style like in this video don't have the best block connectors.
@@notamotorbikemechanic thank you for the reply and heads up, I may just invest in a different brand, this is a universal fault, it seems, thanks again Sir! 👍
Do you think I can just change the pads and leave the fluid?
Absolutely, think most manufacturers recommend two years for brake fluid. Most people don't do it that regular.
Nice one, that was a real help. 👏
Glad it helped🏍
does all 4 spark plugs fail or get foul at the same time ???
I wouldn't think they would fail at same time, but would suffer same wear and tear👍
Hi mate, I'm back on a 1050 - a 2018 RS this time! So back to your maintenance videos which are great! Did you remember what the difference was in filling procedure? I think it's something to do with stopping oil pump airlocks by filling the oil before attaching the new filter????
I think its more about putting oil filter on after filling engine with oil. But would have to double check
You're right. The key step is to fill the oil 3.2 ltr before putting the new oil filter on and making sure NOT to prime the new oil filter. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated.@@notamotorbikemechanic
Recently I've changed my coolant fluid in 765 2020 and radiator screw was also missing. That's interesting from Triumph... Should I ask dealer and buy one?
Was that a mounting screw? I guess you should replace it, incase rad falls off👍
Great video! The best so far which I've seen so going to use the same steps as You did. Thanks alot!
Glad it helped!
These are invaluable how to videos.. truly excellent 👏 👌 thank you for sharing!! I wanted to pick your brain.. I have a 2014 Speed Triple R, so a non split air box.. my questions are: How did you get spark plug 1 out.. I mistakenly used a 6" rachet extension and got completely stuck!!!.. I ended up cutting the extension bar to free it, a friend happened to have a swivel jointed extension.. I used that.. but how do you do it as I can't see what you use? Also re-seating the airbox after.. any tips on getting the velocity stacks onto the intakes? Many thanks 😊 all the best 👍 PS New Subscriber 👍
Can I use wd or has to be a brake cleaner ? I have that brake cleaner from muc off would that work ? Thanks
Yeah that should be fine, anything solvent 👍🏍
Is thiss full synthetic?
It is 👍
Great Vid. I have a Tiger 1050 Sport but it’s so similar to yours it makes this vid REALLY helpful, cheers…
Are the 2013 models as bad to do? I’m not sure if they have the coolant top in the way as I’ve never serviced it yet, thank you
I'm not sure, but probably 😅
@@notamotorbikemechanicjob done, I can confirm it was just as bad 😂
Hello Mister, where did you find this original exhaust. I can't find it Have a good day and Happy new year !
@@notamotorbikemechanic Okay Mister 👌 Thank's for the reply !
My 09 speed triples rear caliper mount shifted and won’t allow me to fit the rear caliper pits back in to seat the caliper. Do you have any idea how to make it fit?
Hmmm would have to see it. Send pictures on email notamotorbikemechanic@gmail.com
Hello sir, I am Hisham from Morocco I have a Kawasaki ZR800 I don't have the keys to open the buggies Could you please send them to me?
Sorry I'm unsure what your asking me?
Hi… I’ve just had my spark plugs out on my 2018 triple rs and I had the same corrosion on the spark plug on cylinder 1. The tip of the coil was also corroded, I removed the rubber boot on the coil tip to clean it with a tiny wire brush before replacing. I’ve been having rough idle issues after the bike has warmed up, I am also swapping out the air filter whilst I’m in there. A nice ‘how to’ tutorial… my spark plugs are NGK CR9EIA-9 (stock oem)… cheers 😉👍
